We are delighted to announce that on 8th February 2017,  Kim Kennedy was elected as Chairman and Christopher Andrews, Secretary  of The Colchester Association for the Protection of Property, otherwise known as The Thieves. The Association was formed on 2nd December 1783 by a group of tradesmen with an annual subscription of 11 shillings required from its members from which prosecutions were financed. In Modern times, prosecutions have of course passed into the hands of the law enforcement agencies but the Annual Dinner, held since 1805, has, except during the two world wars, been held regularly.

On 31st March 2017, Kim Kennedy and Christopher Andrews were delighted to have been invited to the annual dinner of The Association for the Prevention of Crime and the Apprehension and Prosecution of Felons in Newmarket. The Felons Association is a sister organisation of the Thieves. As with The Thieves, it was set up in the late 18th, early 19thcenturies to assist people in helping them to apprehend criminals before the creation of law enforcement agencies.
