Ami-Jane Murphy started Conveyancing as a Legal Secretary in 2002. In 2006, whilst working full time, she attended Chelmsford College in the evenings preparing for her law exams. Ami-Jane qualified in 2009 dealing with all aspects of Residential Conveyancing. She joined John Fowlers Solicitors as a Licensed Conveyancer in September 2014 and in 2016 started specialising in New Build Conveyancing.
In December 2025 she was promoted to Senior Associate and Head of New Build Conveyancing.
Ami-Jane says "Working with people is something I treasure about my role at John Fowlers Solicitors. One of my favourite parts of the job is calling a client to say their property has exchanged or been completed. Sometimes I’m more excited than them! I help clients deal with the paperwork that comes with Residential Conveyancing, making the process easily digestible for the client and as stress free as possible.

I found a particular passion for dealing with new build properties and acting for the buyers. I am now working with some of the larger developers in the area. Getting through a year/half year end provides the best adrenaline rush and sense of achievement. I am excited to see department continuing to evolve and grow and look forward to being a leading presence in this niche area of Conveyancing.
When I am out of the office I enjoy walking with my dog Ruby (who is also a fundamental part of our new build team!) along the seafront where I live. I am an avid motorsport fan and love my car. I have a real passion for all things animals /wildlife related and I am at my happiest when I am getting my hands dirty trying to help in any way I can.
