Dawn Dorrell joined John Fowlers Solicitors in 2013, with over 25 years experience with the High Court and County Court in London and East Anglia. Dawn has worked in many deprived areas in London and Essex. Her specialist area is in emergency protection orders, specifically in relation to domestic abuse and the removal of children from unsafe environments.
“My role is not to dictate what people should do, but to simply open a door to give them an opportunity to move positively through their problems with as little distress as possible, whilst being supportive in a positive pragmatic way.
My expertise in this difficult area allow me to deal with risk assessments, inter-agency referral, safeguarding and cultural issues with speed and sensitivity. I have been involved in a number of high profile cases, reported in both legal and mainstream press and am experienced in European Hague Convention work.
I work closely on an inter-agency basis with social care, the police, Women’s Aid and ManKind to provide a supportive and comprehensive service to our clients. I am passionate about protecting vulnerable people from immediate threat, whether physical or emotional, and am determined and motivated by my job to resolve difficult issues surrounding children, evaluating their situation and supporting them in dealing with difficult lifestyle problems such as drink, drugs and domestic violence.
The most rewarding part of my job is getting to witness the change in a person once they are freed from the difficult situation which has caused them significant distress.
I believe in working together to solve a problem and enjoy the warm and positive environment at John Fowlers Solicitors. My team share ideas and interact together to ensure the best results can be achieved for each individual client.
Other than law, I enjoy being with my family and taking walking holidays in the south of the country with our family pets. I am also a keen gardener and painter.”
