Our People - David Howell - Consultant

David Howell has been a criminal consultant with the firm since 2001. He is Solicitor Advocate and he is a Specialist Trial Advocate with Higher Rights of Audience in all Civil and Criminal Courts.

David qualified as a Barrister in 1977 and then joined the Army as a Military Court Martial and Military Jurisdiction Specialist. He left in 1996 and moved to Colchester where he requalified as a Solicitor. He has been a Duty Solicitor for the Civil and Military Police stations and Magistrates courts since 1997.

David practises as an advocate at Magistrates courts, Crown Courts, Courts Martial and Court of Appeal, he is a very experienced Legal Adviser and successful Tutor. Innovative, perceptive and resilient with a practical approach and the ability to express complex legal advice in layman's terms. An excellent communicator and a holder of a prestigious Barrister's Red Bag.

He is married with 3 boys and he and his family spend in their spare time sailing, swimming and reading. David has a keen interest in languages, lifesaving and the Roman army.
