John Fowlers LLP - Our history...
1924 The firm was founded by the Town Clerk, John Fowler in Brightlingsea. Some 85 years on, the firm still practices from the same office at 12 Victoria Place. The partner in charge of this office is Derek Root.
1948 Harold Oldman opened the firms second office at 63 High Street Colchester and the firm then became John Fowler Oldman & Co.
2002 On Colin Dove's retirement, Kim Kennedy became senior partner aided by his other partner, Derek Root. The firm is rebranded and renamed as John Fowlers. Sharon Coomber's mental health practice joined forces with John Fowler's and gave the firm a much needed mental health department.
2006 Following extensive renovation of a large victorian building , the firm moved from Colchester High Street to Town Hall Chambers, behind the Town Hall. This four storey building provides accomodation for the private client, family, crime, domestic and commercial conveyancing and civil litigation departments.
2007 As the firm continued to expand, additional premises were acquired at 45/46 East Stockwell Street, Colchester. These house the mental health and employment departments together with the finance and administration centre. This venue also provides light and spacious conference facilities.
2008 John Fowlers converted to a Limited Liability Partnership, now known as John Fowlers LLP.
2009 Sheila Crosby and Wendy Cronshey became partners in the firm.
